2021 Jeep® Cherokee vs 2021 Honda CR-V: Who’ll Take the Crown?
The Jeep® brand recently celebrated its 80th anniversary. That track record gives the brand a significant head start over just about every other SUV out there, earning a reputation for toughness and capability in the meantime.
When you compare the 2021 Jeep Cherokee against the 2021 Honda CR-V, it’s clear that new Jeep SUVs haven’t lost their edge.
The 2021 Honda CR-V offers one engine, good for 190 horsepower. The 2021 Jeep Cherokee offers three of them, and while the smallest of the trio has a few less horsepower (it’s a 184 horsepower I4 engine), the largest of the bunch offers 271 horsepower.
As a result, while the Honda CR-V tows 1,500 pounds, the Jeep Cherokee with the V6 and Trailer Tow Package tows three times as much (4,500 pounds).
Both SUVs can be optionally equipped to drive all four wheels. But they approach it differently. The Honda CR-V offers all-wheel drive; the Jeep Cherokee has four-wheel drive.
The difference isn’t just semantics. Four-wheel drive uses a transfer case alongside the differential used by an AWD system. This provides part-time capability, less wear, and much better off-road capability thanks to the lower gear ratios available (the CVT in the Honda CR-V can’t do that).
Equally to the point, the Honda CR-V offers only 7.8 inches of ground clearance. The 2021 Jeep Cherokee starts at 8.7 inches, and with adaptive air suspension available in the Trail Rated™ Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk trim. You can even raise clearance to 10.8 inches.
Peace of Mind
The 2021 Jeep Cherokee is built for safety as much as capability. Offering similar safety features and an identical safety score to the Honda CR-V, both SUVs are undoubtedly safe vehicles. However, they differ when it comes to their benefits programs.
When you buy or lease from Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM, we want you to enjoy your vehicle for years to come. One of the things that helps you do that is the Jeep Wave® Customer Care Program.
For three years, you get essential maintenance, plus vehicle rentals, and 24/7 roadside assistance for the duration of your powertrain warranty. There are also additionl perks you can discuss with our Schaumburg Jeep dealers. The Honda CR-V doesn’t offer a comparable complimentary program; theirs costs extra.
The Honda CR-V is by no means a bad SUV. But the Jeep Cherokee, like our other new Jeep models, offers legendary capability backed by 80 years’ worth of heritage, and that makes the decisive difference. Stop by today for a test drive, Jeep financing, and more!
